The 1st performance at Pebble Mill – Hind proved to be an effervescent, impassioned performer whose strong technique and obvious clarity of perception reinforced an authoritative impression.
The new Hoyland work is an extended and adventurous piano solo of clear significance and considerable communicative contrast.
The work develops through changing perceptions in such a way as to produce a dramatic central climax followed by a gradual, much more concordant, unwinding, based a common line heard in the middle register each time: exciting, original and impressive music.
